Since I was first elected to the Charlotte County Airport Authority, I have been part of an outstanding team that has
rebuilt an airport destroyed by Hurricane Charley,
brought commercial airline service to the airport,
added T-Hangars for our general aviation tenants,
expanded job opportunities at the airport by attracting and retaining clean business to the airport,
built a new air traffic control tower,
installed new radar system in the tower,
installed new ILS (Instrument Landing System) at the airport,
tripled the size of our airline terminal,
brought Western Michigan University's aviation program to the airport,
helped bring Cheney Brothers, Inc. into Charlotte County
and managed to do all this without receiving Charlotte County tax dollars, while providing an economic powerhouse for our community. Our funding comes from (1) fuel sales, (2) aviation and non-aviation leases, (3) concession funds such as rental car fees, (4) parking revenue, and (5) miscellaneous income at the airport. We also receive grant funding from the federal government and the state government. When you pay taxes on an airline ticket, a portion of that money is returned to the airports, including the Punta Gorda Airport.
It is my goal that we continue to operate our airport in a responsible manner, using our funding wisely to provide the best airport experience possible for our commercial passengers, our general aviation pilots, our commerce park tenants, and our community members.
I look forward to continuing this success. If you believe that the airport is doing a good job, let me know! And, when election time comes around, vote for me to keep up the good work I have begun. Thank you!
Sincerely, Pamella A. Seay
